Web

The problem with communication on the web is the illusion that it is actually occurring.

The web is tricky. A lot of people come to me hoping that a nice website will suddenly generate business. I wish it were true. The truth is that a website is a marketing tool not a solution. You have to market your business and “push” your website in order to generate traffic. And it only grows in conjunction with several other efforts.

But do not be discouraged. While the web is not a stand-alone solution, it is also possibly the most important marketing tool you have in this advancing technological age. With a website, you are not immediately successful, but without a website you will instantly fail. We live in a time where our first instinct is to go online and look someone up. Without a presence on the web, you cannot have a successful business.

In the same manner, however, simply having a website does not mean that it is working to your benefit – in fact, in many cases a website can work against you. Have you ever been to a website where you could not find what you needed? Or the content was so bland that you tried another search for another company?

A website has to be your best face. It’s your resume. Your proof of quality. In many cases, your first impression to potential clients. Your website has to represent your brand, carry your identity and provide the information that your clients need, fast. It’s tricky. It’s essential. It’s vital to any company.
